Danilo Gallinari has become the latest to accuse NBA star Kawhi Leonard for his role in the LA Clippers violating the league’s salary cap rules.

The Italian player starred for the Clippers in two seasons, averaging 18.7 PPG and 5.8 RPG, before he was traded to the OKC Thunder as part of the Paul George trade.
He was a pivotal part of the team, but with the Clippers having ambitions of winning the NBA championship, they wanted to add star power, which is why they traded Gallinari away for George.
In the end, Gallinari’s career never really took off after the move away from the Clippers. He had a decent stint with the Atlanta Hawks, but after that, Gallinari kept team-hopping before eventually leaving the NBA.
The 38-year-old has now come out and slammed Leonard for his role in the trade that sent Gallinari away from the Clippers.
Gallinari wants Leonard to pay $50 million fine
The NBA fined Leonard $700,000 for his role in the salary cap violation made by the Clippers.
It was believed that the franchise was initiating off-the-court opportunities for Leonard, and this even led to them being fined $30 million.
However, Gallinari believes Leonard should have gotten fined even more.
“He should pay all of that $50 million,” Gallinari said on the A Cresta Alta podcast. “He changed the trajectory of my career and put me in a difficult situation by sending me away from Los Angeles.”
After his stint in the NBA, Gallinari signed with Vaqueros de Bayamón, a team in the Puerto Rican league. He helped them win their 17th title and also won the Finals MVP to mark off a sensational career.
Leonard, on the other hand, is no longer on the Clippers, as his trade to the Toronto Raptors was agreed by both teams on Monday.
Gallinari’s claim is personal, as he believes that without Leonard’s involvement, the Italian would have enjoyed a much better time with the Clippers. The NBA world will never know whether that would be true, but neither can say that they have had championship success with the team.
