Jo Adell ‘Excited’ for Guardians’ Final Playoff Push

Jo Adell has only been a member of the Cleveland Guardians organization for a month and a half, but he’s already seemingly fit in with this group of players both on the field and off it.

While Adell’s first few weeks with the Guardians can be chalked up as a success, it’s now time for the power bat to really show why Cleveland gave up a future asset to acquire him.

The Guardians kicked off their biggest series of the season to date on Monday, with a three-game set against the division-leading Chicago White Sox.

Adell may be a five-year veteran in the league, but he’s yet to play in that many meaningful games this deep into September.

The word Adell used to describe this series and how he feels going into the final playoff push is “excited.”

“I mean, I think any opportunity you get to continue to make that push. I mean, we're right there shooting for October, and we're right there where we want to be and, we're excited about it,” the Guardians outfielder said.

Adell also laid out a blueprint for what he thinks will help this team clinch a postseason berth and, hopefully, extend their season deep into October.

“I think the thing for us is just going to be to continue to do what we do and play our game. Everybody here brings a part of their game that's helped this team get to this point. So, we just continue doing that and then have some fun with this. This is what it's about. This is what baseball's about.”

Again, Adell hasn’t seen many at-bats that have playoff implications on the line, but he still knows what it’s like to be at the plate with the game on the line. That experience is what he plans to use over the next few weeks when every at-bat carries extra weight.

“It just comes down to the little things,” Adell continued.

“Every inning that you play, there's an opportunity to do something to help the team win, whether that's take another pitch, find a way to move a runner, runners in scoring position, getting guys on, picking the right pitch to hit, making plays.”

The Guardians continue to have success deep into the season because they consistently play a team-oriented brand of baseball.

It sounds like Adell is ready to do just that, which could set him up for a big moment in the next few weeks.
