Incoming UNC transfer leads preseason D1Baseball list

Fresh off a 2026 run to the College World Series finals, the UNC baseball program is already looking forward to conquering its elusive, postseason demons.

North Carolina won 54 games last season, only losing one regular season series. The Diamond Heels then came one win away from both their second-straight ACC Tournament Championship and first-ever National Championship.
As you look ahead to UNC's 2027 campaign, there's three incoming transfers to start familiarizing yourself with. In D1Baseball's rankings of its Top 50 transfer hitters, North Carolina shortstop Jamie Laskofski tops that list.
Diamond Heels outfielder CJ Egrie lands 32nd overall, while utilityman Blaize Johnson ranks 46th.
A William and Mary transfer, Laskofski established himself as one of college baseball's best hitters in 2026. Earning 2026 CAA Player of the Year and First Team All-CAA honors, Laskofski anchored the Tribe's offense with a .355 batting average, 72 hits, 65 runs, 45 runs batted in, 13 home runs, 12 doubles and six triples, the last of which ranked fourth in Division I.

A Holy Cross transfer, Egrie is quite the speed threat with 52 career stolen bases, which rank third all-time in Crusaders history. Egrie was a team captain in 2026, hitting a Holy Cross-best .325, while collecting a squad-best 54 hits, 48 runs and eye-popping 46 stolen bases. The 2025 Patriot League Player of the Year now comes to Chapel Hill for one final rodeo.

A UNC-Asheville transfer who grew up in North Carolina, Johnson was a constant for the Bulldogs in 2026, starting all 51 games he played in. Johnson mashed .346, fourth amongst all Big South hitters, while compiling a team-high 64 hits, 48 runs, 47 RBI and 11 home runs.
