Liberty Christian (Texas) football begins its 2026 season on Friday night at home against Midland Christian and the pregame festivities saw the school recognize former head coach and legendary NFL tight end Jason Witten.

With the entire Witten family in attendance, Liberty Christian has named its field “Witten Family Field,” according to SoonerScoop.com’s Josh McCuistion. Witten’s son, Cooper, is a senior four-star linebacker for the Warriors.
Witten was hired at Liberty Christian in 2021 following his retirement from the NFL. He guided the Warriors to back-to-back TAPPS state championships in 2023 and 24 and won 44 games across four seasons. In January, Witten was hired as Oklahoma’s new tight ends coach.
