Tasked with building around the edges with the majority of the team's salary cap accounted for by Joel Embiid, forward Paul George and guard Tyrese Maxey, new president of basketball operations Mike Gansey dipped into the free agent market by adding two players from rival Eastern Conference foes.
Here's who the Sixers have signed so far:
Sixers sign Dean Wade
Late Tuesday, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Sixers agreed to a 4-year, $39 million contract with former Cleveland Cavaliers forward Dean Wade.
Wade comes to Philly after playing major playoff minutes for the Cavs this past season, starting all but two of the team's 14 games.
The 29-year-old forward was originally signed by Gansey as an undrafted free agent in 2019.
Sixers sign Ariel Hukporti
Hours after the Wade signing, Charania also reported that the Sixers came to a one-year agreement with former New York Knicks center Ariel Hukporti.
The deal is worth $3.4 million, which is slightly more than the minimum so the Sixers used parts of one of their exceptions to sign the backup big, Philly Voice's Adam Aaronson reported.
In 79 games with the Knicks over the last two seasons, Hukporti averaged 2.2 points and 2.9 rebound in 9.1 minutes. His playing time was limited due to the presence of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson.
