Former Liverpool great Salah suffered a thigh muscle injury in the last group match against Iran a week ago. He returned to team training on Wednesday but question marks remain.

Hassan said that Salah was looking forward to the match and wants to contribute but "of course I won't take any risk as long as I am certain that he is fit and ready for tmorrow.

"We are not sure yet if he will be in the starting XI," Hassan said.

Egypt are playing their first World Cup knock-out match in 92 years and Hassan said that Salah is "both technically and in terms of his collaboration within the team, he is one of the best players I have, and he is among the best in the world.”
