Should the Boston Celtics take a swing on Koa Peat on draft night?

· Yahoo Sports

There are two primary approaches a team can take on draft night. They can either select a player based on their fit within the current system, or they can draft a player based on their potential. Contending teams usually draft for fit, while retooling teams have more minutes available to take swings on long-term upside. Of course, the draft isn't an exact science, meaning we often see someone who went late in the first round or even in the second round emerge as a star within their role.

Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics will find themselves at a crossroads when they're on the clock with the 27th pick later this month. Boston is both a contending team and a retooling roster. Stevens could defend his decision, regardless of which direction he chooses to take with the upcoming draft.

Should Stevens opt to select a player based on upside, Koa Peat projects as the most natural choice, assuming he's still available when Boston is on the clock. Peat has an undeniable upside, although there's also the risk that he struggles to adapt to the NBA game.

With that in mind, the "How 'Bout Them Celtics?" podcast recently did a deep dive into Peat's game, what his upside could look like in the future, how he fits with the Celtics, and why he could be ideal as a swing with the 27th pick in the upcoming draft.
