The Real Madrid forward has come under scrutiny in the past for some of his actions while captain of his nation.
The former Paris Saint-Germain attacker is not just under scrutiny in his homeland after previously refusing selection in favour of focusing on his club form; this scrutiny has also been reciprocated in Spain, where Real Madrid have failed to win a trophy yet again. Deschamps backs Mbappé as captain
When asked about the 27-year-old’s role as leader of France, the Les Bleus head coach was resolute in his support of Lloris’ successor. Deschamps said, “He has taken over from Lloris very well. He’s a real leader. I am very pleased with what he can offer both on and off the field.”
