What Kevin Stefanski said about the Falcons' early prime-time run

The Atlanta Falcons won't have to wait long for their moment in the spotlight this year. Just 11 days after their regular season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Falcons will play in their first prime-time game of the season - visiting the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 3.

Thus begins a rare streak of three straight weeks of prime-time games for Atlanta. The following week they will visit the New Orleans Saints to end Week 4 on Monday Night Football, then they finish off with a home game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Week 5.

That's a lot of media attention, particularly for a young team like the Falcons. Head coach Kevin Stefanski isn't sweating it, though.

"I don't think it's a challenge," Stefanski said of the team's three-game prime-time streak. "I think it's a great opportunity."

It is an opportunity, but it's also a challenge.

Winning in New Orleans is obviously the priority given the tight nature of the divisional race, but the Green Bay and Baltimore matchups should give us a better idea of where this team is compared to true contenders around the league - and the Saints won just six games last year.

The Packers made the playoffs as a Wild-Card despite a brutal NFC North competition, and have made the postseason six of the last seven years.

Meanwhile, the Ravens just missed out on the playoffs after getting hit hard by injuries but had made the postseason the previous three years.

The Falcons haven't seen the postseason since they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round back in 2017, one year removed from their all-time Super Bowl blunder. Eventually they'll have to be able to beat these kinds of teams if they're ever going to get back.
