While he is currently a member of the 2028 recruiting class, the Dallas, Texas native is reclassifying and joining LSU's 2027 recruiting class. He is the second five-star prospect Wade has landed this week, joining point guard Reese Alston.

The Tigers had plenty of competetion for Young, who had over 30 scholarship offers from programs across the country. He ultimately picked LSU over the Tennessee Volunteers, Michigan Wolverines, and Maryland Terrapins, after officially visiting all four.

Young's rankings have not been adjusted after his reclassification, but he was ranked as the No. 11 overall player and No. 4 center in the 247Sports composite for the 2028 class. The 6-foot-10, 250-pounder was also the No. 3 player from Texas.

The Tigers already had the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the country, and his addition only solidifies their spot. In addition to Young and Alston, they also have commitments from combo guard King Gibson and power forward Ahmad Hudson, who are also five-star prospects and among the top 27 players in the country.
