The coach’s explanation for balancing touches among his offensive weapons drew immediate pushback, even as he acknowledged that finding ways to involve Wilson remains part of the assignment.
Aaron Glenn’s Garrett Wilson Explanation Frustrates Jets Fans
Asked about getting Wilson more involved, Glenn pointed out that the other players also need opportunities.
“Yeah, but guys, I mean, it’s only one ball,” he said. “And, I mean, Garrett has to get it.”
The Jets head coach went on to mention other offensive options before explaining that the distribution varies from game to game.
“So each week, man, things are different,” Glenn said. “And, I mean, you guys ask this question all the time about each guy’s getting balls.”
Glenn also acknowledged the central concern. “But just to answer your question, that he is a guy that we got to find ways to get the ball to,” he said. “But sometimes other guys can make plays for us, too.”

That answer left some users thoroughly unimpressed.
“Get rid of him. The best teams in the league get their best player the ball,”one user wrote.
Another challenged the idea that spreading opportunities around should prevent Wilson from getting his share.
“Stop making excuses. Other teams manage to get it done every week,”the user wrote.
Glenn’s comments arrive amidgrowing criticism of his coaching following the Dolphins loss. That frustration helps explain why an answer about how to distribute the ball quickly became another referendum on his job.
“Man get him out of here,”another fan added.
Some Fans Want More Opportunities for Wilson
The strongest football argument in the responses concerned Wilson’s place in the offense. Having multiple options is useful. Users questioning Glenn wanted to know why their preferred target wasn’t getting more opportunities himself.
“Ya but Garrett is most talented player on your offense. He should not be completely ignored/phased out of your scheme and target share. Lame answer,”one user wrote.
Another supporter worried about how the explanation would land with Wilson.
“That’s not how you keep your top wide receiver happy with rhetoric like that!!!”the user wrote.

One response dispensed with the extended analysis. “Coach cut the [expletive],”another user wrote.
“He got one more week,”another user added. That last comment expresses a fan’s patience running out, not an organizational deadline for Glenn.
The coach did say Wilson needs the ball, and his answer leaves room for the Jets to make that happen while involving others. The frustration is over whether those words will produce anything different on the field.
Nobody needs another explanation of how many footballs are available. A few more plays designed to put this one in Wilson’s hands would make a much better argument.
