ESPN obtained a copy of the Garland County Coroner's Office report regarding Ulrich's death. The report said that Ulrich's subdural hematoma was caused by a helmet-to-helmet hit.

The school told ESPN that it had not yet seen the report.

"Our university president, football team and coaches participated in a Celebration of Life service for Tyler last Sunday afternoon in Azle, Texas. The report you mentioned has not been provided to us," the spokesperson said in a statement provided to ESPN. "Our campus community is faithfully remembering his family, teammates and coaches in our prayers."

Ulrich's death is the second of the college football season related to game action. In Week 1 of the NAIA season in August, William Jewell running back MicahJo Barnett died after he collapsed on the sideline shortly after a touchdown run. Barnett's cause of death has not been publicly released.

Additionally, Mayview State quarterback Matt Donovan was placed in a medically induced coma after he suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit on Sept. 19. Donovan was transferred on Oct. 19 to a rehabilitation facility in Nebraska that specializes in recovery from traumatic brain injuries. His father Terry said that two days before Donovan was transferred, Matt was able to open his eyes for extended periods of time.
