Woods and Towns tied the knot in a special ceremony located in Malibu, California. According to PEOPLE, several big names, including Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet, Hailey and Justin Bieber, Teyana Taylor, Michael B. Jordan, and more, attended.

During a new interview, Towns opened up about the big day and revealed he spoke with a few people before walking down the aisle to marry his bride, including his New York Knicks teammate Brunson. However, Towns said he didn’t talk with Brunson about his vows, his and Woods’ first kiss as a married couple, or the reception.

“Jalen told me, ‘Don’t lock [your] legs at the altar,'” Anthony said. “He said, ‘You’ll fall over.'” He continued, “I have no idea why he told me that, but he was very adamant about that piece of advice, so he must have had a different experience than I had.”

What Surprised Karl-Anthony Towns The Most During His And Woods’ Special Day?

The intimate details of Woods and Towns’ special day have been kept under wraps, but the NBA star said he was shocked at “how fast” the day flew by, adding that he couldn’t enjoy it fully because “it goes by so quick.”

“I think that’s what surprised me the most. I thought it would be this extravaganza, which it was, but I think it felt like all of a sudden it was everyone leaving and it was time to go. I was just like, ‘Wait, I feel like we just got started,'” he reflected further.

Luckily for Towns, he said being married to Woods hasn’t changed his day-to-day much. “Honestly, we both talked about it. We don’t feel like it’s changed much because we were just already in a place [where] it just kind of made the wedding feel like a formality,” he said before clarifying that it was a “fun” formality.

“We gotta have another wedding. Just redo it. We don’t even have to have the ceremony. Let’s just have the reception,” he added.

Towns and Woods married after dating for several years. The pair had been friends before getting even closer with each other following the deaths of their parents.

According to a previous report from The Blast, Woods said that their platonic relationship made their romantic connection even easier.

“We’ve been through a lot together,” she said. “We’ve seen each other at all different ways, times, and phases, so I think we have a very strong foundation.”

Towns echoed that sentiment while speaking about Woods in June 2026, saying he believes his late mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, led him to Woods.

“You always pray you’re going to pick the right woman for you, and I know I did in my fiancée,” the basketball star said.

Towns Frustrated With New York Knicks As Contract Negotiations Hit A Wall

Towns’ reflection on his wedding comes days after The New York Post reported that the Knicks star is stuck in a frustrating back-and-forth with the team over his contract extension.

Before the season, Towns was offered a four-year, $200 million deal, worth $77 million less than his max and a pay cut from his current $57 million salary.

Towns spoke with NBA media just weeks ago and said he would be willing to negotiate a pay cut, but not at that price. He also said he wants to play for a team that values him, adding, “None of those things are close to happening.”

Towns is just one of the Knicks players who helped lead the team to a championship during the 2025-26 season and implied he was bothered by the deal the team extended him.

“I just won a championship. You’d think it was pretty easy. Unless you guys [the reporters] think I have something else to prove,” he said.

The Knicks Shut Down All Conversations About Contract Negotiations In A Rare Statement

The season begins on October 20, when the Knicks face off against LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers. However, Towns’ contract negotiations likely won’t be done by then, as the Knicks released a rare statement saying the team would halt all money talks for now.

“As an organization, our entire focus is on preparing for the upcoming season and delivering another year for our fans to be proud of,” the team said. “As a result, we will not be negotiating contract extensions until later in the season and will remain solely focused on preparing for the start of the season.”
