Tony Dungy discusses NBC exit, faith and future
· Yahoo Sports
Tony Dungy says he is grateful for his years at NBC, but he also wonders whether his outspoken faith may have played a role in the network’s decision to move on from him before the 2026 NFL season, BroBible reported.
NBC made major changes to its popular “Football Night in America” pregame show ahead of this season. Dungy, a Super Bowl-winning coach and longtime analyst, was among the personalities who did not return. Former NFL player Rodney Harrison also exited the show as part of the shakeup. Dungy had worked for NBC since retiring from coaching in 2008, according to Awful Announcing.

Dungy said he believes broadcasters often try to appeal to the widest possible audience and may be uncomfortable with discussions about faith.
Still, Dungy said he has no plans to hide or apologize for his Christian beliefs. He said NBC knew his views when he was hired and that he has always tried to share those beliefs respectfully.
While Dungy admitted he has wondered whether those views affected NBC’s decision, he said he does not know for sure. Instead, he is choosing to focus on the positive memories from his 17 years with the network.
Now, the longtime coach says he is ready for whatever comes next in his career.
