Clark has taken the WNBA by storm since being drafted by the Indiana Fever in 2024, setting points and assist records throughout her time with the team.

She ended the most recent season with the most total points created of any player per game and in turn, Fever fans would no doubt love for her to sign the EPIC extension.

When asked about that happening this week, though, Clark did not fully commit to saying she would sign it, but did add that she wants to ‘do what’s best for the team’.

What fans are saying about Caitlin Clark’s ‘EPIC’ contract comments

Clark said: “I’m not saying I am going to sign it, not saying I’m gonna sign it or not sign it. I think it’s just kind of figuring out the way we need to construct our roster.

“I mean, no matter what, I’m going to be here, I just want to do what’s best for the team.”

Now, fans have been reacting to the clip of Clark talking about the EPIC and the replies have been mixed.

One fan stated: “The Tom Brady approach. Take less, bring more talent, win rings. Probably smart in the long run.”

Another suggested: “Your squad has finished 6th three years in a row. Fever doesn’t seem to have a clear direction of who they are building around. It is foolish of her not to sign the EPIC extension.”

A third wrote: “The way she’s already planning around the team not herself tells you everything about who actually cares about winning.”

“Caitlin Clark is making herself smaller for the Fever when it should be the Fever moulding itself around her. A true hunger to win also means refusing to play below your potential,” commented a fourth.

Another tweeted: “This level of loyalty is admirable when the other side deserves it. I don’t think so in this case.”

A sixth added: “Caitlin will not take the EPIC to help sign Kelsey and encourage other players to the Fever. She will also have more influence on team selections. Watch this space!”

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Fever’s star players like Clark and as one fan pointed out, Kelsey Mitchell.

But should Caitlin agree to the extension, as per ESPN, she could sign for the ‘projected max of $1.3 million in 2027 and the projected supermax of $1.7 million in 2028’
