With many questions about what the Boston Red Sox want to do with Adley Rutschman after moving a massive prospect haul to land him at this past year's Major League Baseball trade deadline, everything will focus on how much money he could potentially get.

Rutschman is undoubtedly one of the best catchers in Major League Baseball, but the catcher market is a bit tough to understand.

As I've said many times before, I love that the Red Sox went out and got a guy like Rutschman because the catching market is so below average.

Outside of guys like Will Smith and Cal Raleigh, there isn’t a slew of elite catchers out there.

The Red Sox plan on talking to his representatives, though it remains uncertain how those talks are going and when and if they've even happened yet.

"What I would say is that Adley stepped in as our primary catcher in the middle of a season, which is not easy to do," Breslow said, per SI.

"Especially when pitching is a strength for our team. He immediately endeared himself to the pitching staff, to the coaching staff, to the clubhouse. Just a really, really high-quality teammate and leader. As to the other question, I think that's something that will develop internally. Any conversations about what Adley's future looks like will take place between Adley, his representatives and me."

The Red Sox will have to consider multiple things when it comes to giving Rutschman a contract.

He'll likely be looking to break the market in terms of AAV, which Raleigh currently holds with a $17.5 million deal over six years. Smith has the biggest contract by value: $140 million over 10 years.

If I had to predict a Rutschman contract, I'd say something around six years and $120 million. Perhaps the Red Sox could get him for a bit less, but that feels like a fair starting point.
