Philadelphia Eagles: Promote RB With Over 1,600 Career Yards

· Yahoo Sports

Injuries continue to plague the Philadelphia Eagles‘ running back room. Saquon Barkley suffered a hamstring injury and is reportedly week-to-week, meaning he could miss one game to multiple weeks. Additionally, Tank Bigsby, the second option, recently underwent core muscle surgery, prompting the Eagles to place him on injured reserve, hoping he misses six weeks or less. This leaves Will Shipley as the only healthy running back on the active roster. Shipley has totaled 51 yards on 15 attempts and 91 offensive snaps.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Eagles have promoted Dameon Pierce to the 53-man roster. After a strong rookie season with the Texans, in which he recorded a career-high 939 rushing yards and four touchdowns in 2022, Pierce has not been the same player, battling injuries and falling down the depth chart. From 2023 to 2025, he has totaled 745 regular-season yards and four touchdowns. After bouncing around with Houston and Kansas City in 2025, the former fourth-round pick signed with Philadelphia but was released during roster cuts and signed to the practice squad shortly after.

The Eagles will more than likely elevate another running back to the game-day roster for Week 5. These options include Carson Steele and Jaydon Blue.
