New England Patriots linebacker Dre’Mont Jones will not be playing in Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was listed as out on Friday's injury report after suffering an injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

Jones injured his shoulder in the win over the Steelers. His absence was felt throughout the week as he missed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday practices. Now, he is set to miss the Week 3 showdown against the Jaguars.
This is a notable development for New England, who is already missing Harold Landry III. Jones and Landry were projected to be the top edge-rushing duo on the depth chart before the season started. Landry missed all of training camp and the first two games of the season, and now Jones is set to miss his first game on Sunday.
Jones has been a key cog for the defense. He has three total tackles and a sack, which came against the Seattle Seahawks in the season opener.
The Patriots are already thin on the edge. Along with Landry, the team also recently placed rookie Quintayvious Hutchins on injured reserve. The team will have to depend on their young edge-rushing talent, such as Elijah Ponder and rookie Gabe Jacas, to help carry the load on defense.
