Red Wings fall short of Triple-A title in extra innings

The Rochester Red Wings faced off against the Oklahoma City Comets in the Triple-A Championship on Saturday, September 26th.
The Red Wings opened scoring with a Leandro Pineda RBI single in the 1st inning.

In the 2nd, a Liover Peguero home run gave Rochester a 2-0 lead.
Neither side scored again until the 8th inning, when the Comets found the outfield twice for two RBIs, tying the game at 2-2.
The Comets had a chance to add more runs in the top of the 9th, but a great double play by the Red Wings got them out of trouble.
No score in the bottom of the 9th for Rochester sent the championship game to extra innings.
In the top of the 10th, Oklahoma City had the bases loaded, and Alek Thomas sent a three-RBI double to center field to give the Comets a 5-2 lead.
With a runner starting the bottom of the 10th inning for Rochester, Cayden Wallace barely beat a throw to first base for a single, advancing Trey Lipscomb to third base.
The next batter, Riley Adams, grounded into a double play, but Lipscomb made it home to cut the deficit to 5-3.
Down to their final out, Leandro Pineda struck out to end the game and the Red Wings' season.
The Oklahoma City Comets win the Triple-A championship.
The Rochester Red Wings finish their season with a 90-59 record.
