MM 9.25: Juju Reese signs two-way deal with New Orleans Pelicans

Julian Reese is heading down to Crescent City. 

The former Maryland forward agreed to a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans after having a great season with the Washington Wizards. Last season, Reese averaged 11.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals and shot 52.9% from the field in 13 games for the Wizards.

Although joining the Pelicans will be new scenery for Reese, he’ll manage to see the old face of former Maryland center Derik Queen, perhaps looking to create that same dynamic down low that many saw back at Maryland. 

In his 2024-2025 season back at Maryland playing alongside Derik Queen, Reese finished the year averaging 13.3 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game and shooting 73.4% from the line. By bringing both Terps back together again — but now on NBA hardwood — the Pelicans have added frontcourt depth, young talent and a duo that many will be excited for.
