Notre Dame (3-0) has looked every bit the part of a focused team on a mission. It won its first three games without too much of a problem, dealing with Lambeau Field and Wisconsin in the opener, and a driving rainstorm last week against Michigan State along the way.
Purdue can’t seem to buy a lick of luck. It lost a heartbreaker at home to Wake Forest, and balled out in Los Angeles last week in a 52-38 loss to UCLA that was physical, fun, and better than the final score might indicate.

Why Notre Dame Will Win
Don’t get cute, and just power away.
Last year, the Irish handed it off 43 times to Jeremiyah Love and Jadarius Price, and it all worked with 254 rushing yards and five scores in the 56-30 win. There’s no reason not to try it again.
CJ Carr and the passing game have been razor-sharp, and the running attack is only averaging 3.6 yards per carry, but it’s effective. When it was time to pound away on Wisconsin in the second half, or in key moments against Michigan State, Notre Dame’s offensive line stepped up. Last year, UCLA ran 48 times against Purdue for 369 yards and four scores.
Why Purdue Will Win
Notre Dame will face a passing game for the first time all season.
Wisconsin’s Colton Joseph hasn’t turned it loose yet, Rice doesn’t throw, and Michigan State’s downfield game didn’t exist in the rain last week. Purdue’s Ryan Browne is hitting 73% of his passes with seven touchdowns and just one pick.
The Boilermakers managed to pump up the big plays on UCLA last week, and at the moment, Browne is second in the nation behind Oregon State’s Braden Atkinson in passing yards per game. The Irish will have to deal with this for a full 60 minutes.
Notre Dame vs Purdue Prediction, Betting Lines
Notre Dame will give up plenty of yards, but not a ton of points. Purdue’s passing game will be decent, but Browne will give up two picks for the first time all year in a game.
The Irish will be methodical as it converts third down after third down. Once again, the Irish offensive line will take over as the game goes on.
