Cody Gakpo Rescues Netherlands With Late Nations League Equaliser
Cody Gakpo left it late, very late, but he got the job done. The Liverpool forward struck in the 91st minute as the Netherlands drew 1-1 with Germany in the UEFA Nations League, turning a frustrating night in Amsterdam into a useful one.

It also meant the reunion between Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk with Jürgen Klopp ended level. All three started and finished the match against a Germany side now coached by Klopp, and the Dutch deserved something for their persistence.

Gakpo’s goal was the key moment, a clean volley under pressure and exactly the sort of intervention top forwards are paid for. Before that, Van Dijk had already seen a headed finish ruled out for offside, a reminder that the Netherlands carried enough threat throughout.
Gravenberch quietly got through his work in midfield, while Jeremie Frimpong stayed on the bench for the hosts. Florian Wirtz was not involved for Germany and is due to join up for the final two matches of this international window.

There was more late action elsewhere in League A, Group 2. Kostas Tsimikas delivered in stoppage time too, setting up Greece’s 95th-minute winner in a 2-1 victory over Serbia in Belgrade.
