Patriots Wire staff predictions for Patriots-Steelers Week 2 game

The New England Patriots will try to right the many wrongs they had in the season opener in Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

For the Patriots, Week 1 was one of the most disappointing regular season losses in recent memory. They were on the road against the defending champion Seattle Seahawks, who lost their starting quarterback, Sam Darnold, to an injury in the first drive of the game.

It was an opportunity for the Patriots to exact revenge on the team that crushed their championship dreams last season at Super Bowl LX.

Instead, they blew a 10-point lead in a game where Patriots quarterback Drake Maye threw three interceptions. Star wide receiver A.J. Brown is on injured reserve, and Maye is coming off the worst performance of his NFL career. The deck is stacked against the Patriots, despite the team being at home against a Steelers team with just as many issues.

Pittsburgh's Week 1 game was more eventful than New England's 13-10 loss in Seattle, but they still had to dig deep to knock off the Atlanta Falcons 20-13 with Cooper Rush at quarterback.

They couldn't get their running game going, and Aaron Rodgers went 24-of-40 passing for 221 yards and one touchdown. So, nothing to write home about for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

The Patriots turned the ball over five times and still only lost by a touchdown when they faced the Steelers last season. Will things be different this time around?

Here are Patriots Wire's official staff predictions for the game:

Danny Jaillet: Patriots 21, Steelers 16

Jordy McElroy: Patriots 28, Steelers 17
