Georgia improved to 3-0 on Saturday with a 45-17 win over Arkansas in their SEC opener, but the victory also saw wide receiver Isiah Canion and running back Nate Frazier leave the game with injuries.

Canion exited during the Bulldogs opening drive after suffering a right leg injury while attempting to make a reception. The Georgia Tech transfer did not return and finished without a catch against the Razorbacks.

Frazier entered Saturday as Georgia’s leading running back and continued his impressive start before leaving in the second half. He recorded 14 carries for 75 yards and a touchdown, averaging 5.4 yards per attempt. The Bulldogs were ahead 24-3 when Frazier departed.

Following the game, head coach Kirby Smart provided an encouraging update.

“I think both of them were fine,” Smart said. “I don’t honstely know. Nate had a little ding. It bothered him. We’re going to go check on it and Isiah the same way. I thought both of them could have played if they needed to.”

Frazier has now scored five touchdowns through Georgia’s first three games and had been the team’s top running back in each contest. After his departure, Chauncey Bowens handled much of the workload, finishing with 11 carries for 39 yards and three touchdowns. Dwight Phillips Jr. and Bo Walker were also options for carries.

Canion, meanwhile, had entered the season as one of the Bulldogs top transfer additions. He logged three catches for 28 yards across the first two games before leaving versus Arkansas. Last season with the Yellow Jackets, Canion caught 33 passes for 480 yards and four touchdowns.

Thomas Blackshear stepped in after Canion left and was targeted three times but did not haul in a pass. Georgia’s leading receiver was Craig Dandridge, who finished with three receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown.

The Bulldogs rushed for 254 yards and four touchdowns as a team, while the Razorbacks managed only 17 rushing yards.

Georgia returns to Sanford Stadium next week to host the Oklahoma Sooners.
