Fever's Kelsey Mitchell sets WNBA single-season scoring record

Kelsey Mitchell added to her laundry list of broken records Friday with her most impressive achievement to date.
The Indiana Fever guard has surpassed Las Vegas Aces forward A'ja Wilson, the reigning four-time WNBA MVP, on the single-season scoring list with more than 1,021 points.

Mitchell needed 20 points to tie Wilson entering Friday's game at the Toronto Tempo. She nearly cleared that mark before halftime, netting 16 first-half points, then delivering the record-breaking triple less than four minutes into the third quarter.
Mitchell is at 1,023 points and counting.
Mitchell broke Wilson's record for consecutive 20-point scoring games earlier this season — she's now at 25 straight such games — and joins her as the only players in league history to eclipse 1,000 points in a single season.
Mitchell is also chasing the WNBA's single-season 3-point record, though that's a moving target. Atlanta's Rhyne Howard broke Sabrina Ionescu's 2023 record on Thursday, and enters Saturday's game vs. Chicago with 129.
Mitchell has canned five triples so far Friday, leaving her with 126 for the year.
