Late field goal dooms Iowa State in 16-13 loss

A 42 yard field goal by Bettendorf native Caden Buhr gave the No. 21 Iowa Hawkeyes a 16-13 win over Iowa State Saturday night in Iowa City.

Iowa State held a 10-0 with 7:51 remaining in the first half, but over the final 5:34, Iowa scored 10 unanswered points to tie it up going into halftime.
The Cyclones reclaimed the lead at the 10:06 mark of the third quarter with a 51 yard field goal.
The Cyclones were called for three holding penalties in the second half. Those penalties accounted for half of the penalties on the night. Iowa was penalized four times for 25 yards.
A three-and-out gave the Hawkeyes the ball back with 4:28 remaining and they made the most of it.
Their final drive took 4:13 off the clock, and Iowa went 31 yards in nine plays.
Next week, Iowa State hosts Bowling Green and Iowa hosts the University of Northern Iowa.
