Tigers among MLB Pipeline's farm systems with best outfield prospects

It is not hard to see a Detroit Tigers lineup in the not-too-distant future that includes Riley Greene, Max Clark and possibly Zyhir Hope.
Greene, 25, made his third All-Star team this summer, while the 21-year-old Clark made his MLB debut last month after the Tigers selected him No. 3 overall in the 2023 MLB Draft. Hope, 21, is at Double-A Erie as a headliner in this month's Tarik Skubal trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Clark and Hope are the Tigers' top two prospects, according to evaluators, with Clark remaining prospect-eligible with just 82 major-league at-bats entering Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Comerica Park. They're the chief reasons why MLB Pipeline has the Tigers' collection of outfield prospects at No. 7 in rankings published Tuesday, Aug. 25.
"How much do you weigh ceiling vs. depth?," writes Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline. "Those who care mostly about the former may have pushed Detroit even higher in this exercise. After all, the Tigers boast two top-30 overall prospects among their outfielders in Major Leaguer Max Clark (No. 13) and ... Hope (No. 28). Both make it easy to dream of a potential homegrown outfield in the Motor City by the first half of next year with Hope in right, Clark in center and (Greene) in left. ..."
Clark celebrated his arrival with the Tigers with five hits in his first two games, including a three-hit effort against the Athletics in his debut, and his first major-league home run in his second game. He's cooled off some since then, hitting .244 with a .669 OPS overall, with one hit in his last 12 at-bats. Hope is off to a slow start with the SeaWolves, hitting .143 in his first 15 games, but already has authored a 20/20 season in 2026 with 25 home runs and 22 steals between the two organizations.
"After (Clark and Hope), however, it gets to be thin," Dykstra continues, "with only one 45-overall outfielder in Cris Rodriguez, who has big-time slugging potential but also struck out 32.5% of the time as an 18-year-old in the Dominican Summer League. Among the 40-overall group, Brett Callahan has injected some energy in his MLB arrival, and Jesus Pinto is a data darling in the Florida State League."
Despite dealing Hope at the trade deadline, the Dodgers lead Pipeline's outfield rankings.
