Quevin Castro, 25, died after collapsing during a friendly match between lower-league Portuguese side Real Sport Clube and Estrela da Amadora on Saturday.

"We extend our most sincere condolences to his family, friends, team-mates, and staff," his club Real said in a statement.

Opponents Amadora said: "Estrela da Amadora hereby express their deepest sorrow for the passing of Quevin Castro.

"Our thoughts are with all those close to him. Rest in peace, Quevin."

His former club West Bromwich Albion of England also paid tribute.

"West Brom are devastated to learn of the untimely passing of Quevin Castro, aged just 25," a statement said.

"Albion will pay tribute to Quevin on Sunday, with a period of applause in the 25th minute of the fixture against Burnley. James Morrison's men will also wear black armbands. The thoughts of everyone at Albion are with Quevin's loved ones at this desperately sad time."
