Richland County teams went a combined 4-4 on Friday, Aug. 21. Let's take a look at what went down as well as catch some scores from all around the area.

Clear Fork 28, Granville 14

The Clear Fork Colts got the 2026 high school football season started off with a bang in Week 1 with a 28-14 road win over Granville on Friday, Aug. 21.

The Colts battled the Blue Aces to a 7-7 tie after the first quarter but scored twice in the second to take a 21-7 lead into halftime. The two teams traded scores in the fourth to give the Colts the 14-point victory.

The Colts piled up 266 rushing yards on 42 attempts and only attempted six passes which turned into four completions and 32 yards. Trey Sellers was the leading rusher on the night with 121 yards and a TD on 17 carries while Marcus Hoeflich added 86 yards and two TDs while throwing for 32 yards. Nash Evans ran for 15 yards on three carries with a score while Brayden Hayes and Alex Schlosser both added 17 yards apiece and Davis Hoeflich ran for 10 yards.

The Colts improved to 1-0 and travel to Zanesville in Week 2.

Plymouth 29, Windham 20

The Plymouth Big Red won the program's first 8-man football game in school history on Friday, Aug. 21 when they beat Windham 29-20.

Keegan Beverly got the 2026 season started off right with an 80-yard kick off return for a touchdown on the opening kick off of the season. Isaiah Miller added a 33-yard touchdown run to give the Big Red a 12-6 lead at the half.

With the Big Red trailing 20-12 in the fourth quarter, Weston Kamann hit Beverly with a touchdown pass and a successful two-point conversion tied the game at 20. Lincoln Distl then gave the Big Red the lead with a safety with 7:10 left in the game to make it 22-20 and Miller's second TD of the game make it 29-20 where the score would stay.

Plymouth improves to 1-0 and hosts Litchfield, Michigan in Week 2.

Hillard Davidson 30, Mansfield Senior 6

The Mansfield Senior Tygers took a tough 30-6 season-opening loss to Hillard Davidson on the road in Week 1.

The Tygers fall to 0-1 and host Tiffin Columbian in Week 2 for the 2026 home opener.

Northwestern 54, Crestview 14

The Crestview Cougars suffered a 54-14 nonconference loss to Northwestern during Week 1 of the 2026 football season.

Northwestern scored 33 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second to build an insurmountable lead. The Cougars did get on the board with 8:16 left in the second quarter when Carson Keener caught a 64-yard touchdown pass from Colten Ernandas. The Cougars later scored on a 26-yard run from Gavin Webb with 3:46 left in the game.

Ernandes completed nine passes for 130 yards and a touchdown while Webb ran for 42 yards and a score and Wyatt BArber added 21 yards rushing. Keener caught six passes for 115 yards and a score.

The Cougars fall to 0-1 and host Crestline in Week 2.
