Eisenhower Panthers to forego football season

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) -- Eisenhower High School has informed the IHSA that it will not be fielding a varsity football team this season.

"They have informed our office and its opponents that they will not field a varsity team this season," Matt Troha, Associate Executive Director of the IHSA, said in an email.
Eisenhower athletic director Benny Phillips tells WCIA that the school district will be releasing a statement regarding the decision.
A fellow Central State 8 coach tells WCIA he was informed of the decision Monday morning by his athletic director, and that the Panthers will still play a junior varsity schedule.
The Panthers went 1-8 last season, including a 27-21 win over Lanphier in week eight.
