Kaizer Chiefs transfer report: Experienced star moving to the Western Cape

According to Mazola Molefe of SABC Sport, the 28-year-old Msimango is on the verge of leaving Amakhosi after agreeing to join Stellenbosch.
GIVEN MSIMANGO CLOSES IN ON EXIT
The transfer forms part of the agreement that will see highly-rated winger Langelihle Phili move in the opposite direction. It sees Kaizer Chiefs closing in on one of the most talked-about deals of the current transfer window ahead of the Betway Premiership season.
Msimango joined Kaizer Chiefs from TS Galaxy in 2023. He had signed a four-year contract after establishing himself as one of the league’s most consistent defenders.
The Brakpan-born defender made an immediate impact during his debut campaign. He quickly cemented his place in the starting line-up with a series of composed performances. His leadership qualities and defensive consistency also saw him emerge as one of the key figures in the Amakhosi backline.
However, his progress was later disrupted by a long-term injury. He also increased competition for places limited his opportunities after his return. Despite the setbacks, Msimango fought his way back into the side and started nine of Kaizer Chiefs’ final 10 matches last season.
KAIZER CHIEFS CLOSE IN ON PHILI
Despite Msimango’s strong finish to the campaign, Amakhosi have agreed to include the defender in the package to secure the services of Langelihle Phili from Stellenbosch.
The deal is expected to benefit both clubs. Stellenbosch will beef up their defence through the arrival of an experienced Betway Premiership campaigner. Kaizer Chiefs will add one of the country’s brightest young attacking talents to Fernando da Cruz’s squad.
Remaining formalities are expected to be completed this week. Msimango will become the latest player to swap Kaizer Chiefs for Stellenbosch. Meanwhile, Phili is set to begin the next chapter of his career in Soweto.
