An Australian mother has died after she was badly burned in a BBQ accident in front of her two children, news.com.au reported.

Charlotte Rose-Anne Hill, 38, was setting up a BBQ at her home in Sydney to roast marshmallows for her 11-year-old son Noah and 7-year-old daughter Billie-Rose while they were on their winter break from school. Tragically, she caught fire while doing so as the children were nearby.
Billie-Rose screamed “the loudest she has ever screamed in her life” in an attempt to call their father, Matt Tierney, according to Charlotte’s cousin, Bianca Hill, who added Noah used his jacket to try and put the fire out.
Tierney gave Charlotte first aid and took her to the hospital. She suffered severe burns to her hand and face. Bianca arrived and took Charlotte to another hospital that could treat her injuries more effectively while Tierney looked after the kids.
Charlotte underwent surgery seemed to be doing well, according to news.com.au. She was even reportedly speaking to her children. But later on, medical staff found her unresponsive due to a medical complication. She died on July 10.
“I received the worst phone call you can get,” Bianca said. “We’ll never hear her laugh again. We’re just so heartbroken for her children.”
Family remembers
The family remembered Charlotte on a GoFundMe page.
“Charlotte sustained serious burns and showed incredible strength through surgery, giving everyone hope. Heartbreakingly, she suffered an unexpected medical complication during her recovery and passed away, leaving her family devastated,” it said.
“The greatest heartbreak is the two young children Charlotte adored beyond measure. Having lost her own mother at a young age, Charlotte often spoke about how she never wanted her children to endure the same pain she had carried throughout her life. Tragically, that is now the reality Noah and Billie-Rose must face. No child should have to navigate the loss of their mother so young.”
