ESPN provides positive reports on pair of Dolphins rookies

After trading wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos earlier this offseason, the Miami Dolphins entered the 2026 NFL draft with two first-round picks and used them on Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor and San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson.
Miami has completed their organized team activities and minicamp for the offseason and have a few weeks to go before their rookies report back to their Baptist Health Training Complex for the start of training camp.

Before that, ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques provided an update on how Miami's top two rookies have adjusted to life in the NFL so far.
"Proctor has made a positive impression on his teammates, with center Aaron Brewer saying he looks like a veteran through two months of offseason practice," Louis-Jacques wrote. "Without pads, it's difficult to gauge how much an offensive lineman has acclimated, but Proctor has seemingly learned his new position (left guard) quickly and is penciled in to start as a rookie.
"Johnson was one of coach Jeff Hafley's favorite players in the draft, and he lauded the rookie every chance he got this spring. On a team that lacks a true top cornerback, Johnson has cross-trained at multiple positions and made a positive impression on Miami's coaching staff with his football instincts. The Dolphins need a new starter at all three cornerback spots -- Johnson will fill one of them."
Both of Miami's first-round selections will play large roles for the team in 2026, and if they both perform at the level that their expected to, they'll be building blocks for a team that doesn't seem to have many of them right now.
However, before we get ahead of ourselves, training camp is really their first real test.
