The Philadelphia Eagles’ wide receiver room no longer has the same structure after the blockbuster trade that sent A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots, and training camp will determine how the offense redistributes one of the NFL’s most important target shares.

DeVonta Smith has the clearest path to more responsibility. Smith was already one of the league’s most polished receivers, and Brown’s departure moves him into the unquestioned No. 1 role in Philadelphia’s passing game. His route running, sideline control, and ability to win at every level should make him Jalen Hurts’ primary option, but the larger question is how the Eagles build the rest of the room around him.
Makai Lemon may have the most direct path among the newcomers because Philadelphia traded up to land him, signaling that the front office believes he can contribute quickly. Lemon’s explosiveness and ability to create after the catch give the Eagles a young receiver who can be moved around the formation while Sean Mannion builds a more distributed passing game.
Hollywood Brown also has a clear lane to snaps because of his speed and vertical value. Philadelphia needs a receiver who can stretch coverage, threaten safeties, and create space underneath for Smith, Dallas Goedert, and the running game. Brown’s ability to win deep could make him an immediate part of the rotation if he stays healthy and builds timing with Hurts.
Dontayvion Wicks may be the most intriguing intermediate option. Nick Sirianni’s comparison to Keenan Allen pointed to route craft, leverage, and the kind of detail that can matter on timing throws. If Wicks proves dependable on digs, crossers, curls, and third-down concepts, he could become more than a depth receiver.
Elijah Moore gives the Eagles another movable piece who can work inside, outside, and underneath. His versatility should help him compete for slot snaps, manufactured touches, and situational work.
Johnny Wilson faces a more difficult but important summer. His size remains intriguing, but the additions of Lemon, Brown, Wicks, and Moore have made his path to the roster more competitive. The Eagles have talent, but camp will decide which receivers can turn opportunity into trust.
