Learners at public schools in Gauteng may not receive their term two progress reports before schools close on Friday, 26 June, after the provincial education department confirmed technical problems affecting its reporting system.
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) said the disruption could delay the printing and issuing of report cards at some public ordinary schools across the province.

SA-SAMS system outage disrupts school reporting
The department said a technical fault has affected the South African School Administration and Management System (SA-SAMS).
The schools use the system to manage learner records, results, and attendance.
Officials explained that the problem stems from the temporary unavailability of the Citrix environment that supports the system.
Due to a technical fault, some schools have been unable to access, capture, or finalise learner data needed to complete report cards.
The SA-SAMS platform, managed nationally by the Department of Basic Education, plays a central role in school administration.
This includes curriculum tracking and academic reporting.
Department apologises and promises repairs within days
Gauteng Education MEC Lebogang Maile apologised to learners, parents, and school staff affected by the disruption.
He said the department understands the importance of report cards in tracking academic progress and planning for the next term.
Maile confirmed that technicians are working to restore full access to the system and resolve the fault as quickly as possible.
GDE spokesperson Onwabile Lubhelwane said technicians expect to resolve the issue within five to seven days.
She added that “Citrix issues are currently being solved by a technical and competent team” and assured parents that report cards will be issued once the system is restored.
Several schools have already informed parents that report cards will not be available until the system is fully functional.
The department will provide further updates as soon as new information becomes available.
