Highlights from Utah’s 2026-27 Big 12 men’s basketball schedule

As per the Big 12’s desire to maintain conference rivalries, BYU is one of three home-and-away opponents on the Runnin’ Utes’ schedule.

Utah, which finished last season 2-16 in Big 12 play, will also play Colorado and Oklahoma State twice during conference action.

Among the highlights of Utah’s home schedule is Kansas returning to the Huntsman Center. Two years ago during the Utes’ first year in the league, Utah upset the Jayhawks in Craig Smith’s final season as head coach, just days before being let go.

The Utes will also host Texas Tech, another team that made the NCAA tournament last season. The other four Big 12 teams on Utah’s home slate — Baylor, Cincinnati, Kansas State and West Virginia — didn’t make the NCAAs.

There are a handful of difficult road matchups on Utah’s group of road-only opponents as well. The Utes will hit the road to take on Arizona, Houston, Iowa State, UCF and TCU, all NCAA tournament participants this past year, along with Arizona State.

The Wildcats made it to the Final Four, while the Cougars and Cyclones were Sweet Sixteen teams.

Highlights from Utah’s 2026-27 Big 12 women’s basketball schedule

A Utah squad that returns one starter, forward Chyra Evans, will face a Big 12 slate where the majority of its road games come against teams that made the NCAA tournament a year ago.

BYU is one of three home-and-away opponents on the Utes’ schedule, as are Arizona and Arizona State.

Arizona State was an NCAA First Four team a year ago, while BYU made the WBIT championship. The Cougars swept Utah last year in three matchups, including one in the conference tournament.

Of Utah’s six other home Big 12 matchups, Oklahoma State and Colorado made the NCAA Tournament last season.

Of the Utes’ six other road conference contests, though, five of them will come against teams made reached the NCAAs a year ago. That includes TCU, an Elite 8 team during the 2025-26 campaign, three teams that made the Round of 32 in Baylor, Texas Tech and West Virginia, as well as NCAA participant Iowa State.
