'Sirf second trophy nahi, 2, 3, 4, 5 bhi jeetenge': Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's big promise to Rajasthan Royals

NEW DELHI: Despite enjoying a dream IPL 2026 season and rewriting record books, the pain of Rajasthan Royals' Qualifier 2 exit still lingers for batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
The 15-year-old produced a breathtaking 96 off just 47 balls against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2, but his heroics were not enough to take Rajasthan Royals into the final. More than a month later, the disappointment of falling short of the title clash continues to hurt the youngster.
Speaking to Rajasthan Royals team manager Romi Bhinder in a video posted by the franchise, Sooryavanshi reflected on the overwhelming support he received from fans and admitted that he felt sorry for not being able to help the team reach the final.
Asked about his fan following and the affection he receives from supporters across age groups, Sooryavanshi said he was deeply moved by the reactions he saw on social media after matches.
"Main ye cheez words mein explain nahi kar sakta. Jab main room mein aaya aur social media dekha, maine dekha ki kisi ne apni mother ka video dala tha aur jab main out hua to woh udaas ho gayi thi. Kisi ne apne father ka reaction share kiya tha, kisi ne apni poori family ka. Jab main shots khel raha tha, sab excited the aur jab main out hua to sab afsos kar rahe the. (I cannot explain this in words. When I came back to my room and checked social media, I saw videos of mothers getting upset when I got out, fathers reacting to my innings and entire families following my batting. Everyone was excited when I was batting and disappointed when I got out)," Sooryavanshi said.
The Bihar-born youngster also thanked fans for the immense support and affection they have shown him throughout the season.
"Ground par bhi maine dekha jis tareeke se log mujhe support kar rahe the. Main haath jodkar sabko thank you bolunga. Main is baat ke liye bahut grateful hoon ki itna support, itni blessings aur itna pyaar mujhe mil raha hai. Jiski wajah se aaj main yeh sab haasil kar paya hoon. (I saw the support from fans at the ground as well. I want to thank everyone with folded hands. I am extremely grateful for the support, blessings and love I have received. It is because of them that I have been able to achieve all this today)," he added.
Opting to bat first in Qualifier 2, Rajasthan Royals posted 214/6 in 20 overs, powered by Sooryavanshi's stunning 96-run knock that included eight fours and seven sixes.
However, Gujarat Titans chased down the target with ease, winning by seven wickets with eight balls to spare and ending Rajasthan Royals' hopes of reaching the IPL 2026 final.
The defeat remains one of the biggest disappointments of Sooryavanshi's breakthrough season.
"Aur mujhe thoda bura bhi laga ki un logon ka hope tha ki main khelu aur finals tak jaun. Finals mein achha karke team ko jitaun, lekin woh nahi ho paya. Hopefully bahut jaldi woh bhi ho jayega. (I felt bad because people hoped that I would take the team to the final and help Rajasthan Royals win. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Hopefully, that day will come very soon)," he said.
Despite the heartbreak, Sooryavanshi remains optimistic about Rajasthan Royals' future and believes the franchise can add multiple trophies to its cabinet in the coming years.
"Jo bhi Rajasthan Royals ke fans hain aur jo umeed laga ke baithe hain ki second trophy kab aayegi aur hum kab phir se jeetenge, hopefully sirf second trophy nahi. Aane wale saalon mein 2, 3, 4, 5 trophies bhi jeetenge. Bas aise hi support, pyaar aur blessings dete rahiye. Hum team ke liye isi tarah achha karte rahenge. (To all Rajasthan Royals fans who are waiting for the second title and wondering when we will win again, I hope it is not just a second trophy. I hope we win three, four and five trophies in the years to come. Keep supporting us, keep giving us your love and blessings, and we will continue giving our best for the team)," Sooryavanshi said.
Sooryavanshi finished IPL 2026 as the tournament's highest run-scorer, amassing 776 runs at a phenomenal strike rate of 237.30. His remarkable season also included a record-breaking 72 sixes and a clean sweep of several major post-season awards.
