“It makes you feel like you’re doing something bigger than yourself and being a part of something bigger than yourself,” RGIII said. “That’s what Baylor’s all about.”
Over 300 participants took part in the camp on Saturday morning inside the Allison Indoor Practice Facility with local high school football standouts and top prospects in Baylor’s backyard.
“There’s going to be young men that come from this camp that are going to be Baylor Bears and that are going to be stars at the college level,” RGIII said. “[Baylor] coaches got a chance to see them first.”
The camp continues to be put on by Baylor football along with the Bears’ coaching staff, furthering the relationship that head football coach Dave Aranda and the 2011 Baylor Heisman Trophy winner have already established.
“Coach Aranda has been incredible,” RGIII said. “You want to see good people win and he’s good people… There’s an appreciation for how we got to his point and why the expectation is what it is at Baylor.”
Wrapping up the sixth camp as the Copperas Cove native and Baylor legend continues to give back to the communities he grew up in and around.
“It’s always good to see [top recruits] in one spot and just compete and be with the kids,” RGIII said. “I think it was a great success.”
