Oregon's Tanner Bradley a finalist for Stopper of the Year Award

· Yahoo Sports

A key part of the Oregon Ducks' success this season has been the pitching staff. While the starting rotation has thrived in the postseason so far, the bullpen has been tremendous as well and could help the Ducks reach Omaha for the first time since 1954.

Right-hander Tanner Bradley has been a core member of the Oregon bullpen this season, often acting as a setup man and tossing multiple innings at the end of games. His efforts have helped carry the Ducks to the Austin Super Regional against Texas, and now he is being recognized as one of the top bullpen arms in the country.

Bradley has been nominated by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) for the Stopper of the Year Award, which is annually presented to the nation's top relief pitcher. The sophomore leads all Oregon pitchers with 30 appearances and a 1.76 ERA. In 51 innings has issued only 18 walks while fanning 79 batters. He also has a 0.82 WHIP and a .140 batting average against, both of which are best on the team.

The Ducks' sophomore reliever is one of 16 finalists for the award, which includes several arms Oregon has seen this season, such as Oregon State's Albert Roblez and UCLA's Wylan Moss and Easton Hawk. Texas' freshman closer Sam Cozart is also a finalist.

Oregon has never had a reliever bring home the award, but Bradley is the fourth-ever nomination for the Ducks. Jimmie Sherfy was nominated in 2012 and 2013, while Kenyon Yovan was nominated as a freshman in 2017.

Bradley will get a chance to improve upon his resume this weekend when Oregon takes on Texas for a spot in the College World Series.
