The Las Vegas Raiders had a handful of players who weren’t at OTA’s earlier today.

Most notably among the group were linebacker Nakobe Dean and rookie cornerback Jermod McCoy, as the duo’s absence may come as a surprise to many. Dean signed a 3-year, $36 million deal with the Raiders this offseason, while McCoy was Las Vegas’ fourth round selection during the 2026 NFL Draft in April.

The entire list of players who weren’t at Raiders’ OTA’s today includes Dean, McCoy, Jeremy Chinn, Jalen Nailor, Ian Thomas, Carter Runyon and Benito Jones. Chinn was at the facility because he appeared for a press conference after practice.

Keep in mind, these practices are voluntary, which means none are required to practice with the team.

McCoy suffered a torn ACL prior to his final season at Tennessee in 2025, as the talented corner was forced to miss the entire season last year which resulted in him sliding to the fourth round. The Raiders are expected to monitor the rookie closely and he has reportedly taken things slow prior to training camp, so McCoy’s absence from OTA’s today could be a precautionary move.

Dean, McCoy and the rest of the Raiders who were absent from OTA’s today will more than likely suit up in the near future, with their next opportunity coming next week during Las Vegas’ mandatory mini camp.
