The Seahawks are still in such a good spot with their dead cap, far better than any other NFL team, with only Sataoa Laumea and Damien Martinez on their Dead Money section for a total of $513K. No other NFL team has less than $3.4 million. They’re ninth in cap space even after the Jaxon Smith-Njigba extension and the new rookie classes, they have a great roster that just won the Super Bowl, and they’re not even tapping out all of their resources to the max yet.
They’ll likely have to spread thin in the future with the extensions for Devon Witherspoon, and someday Byron Murphy II and Nick Emmanwori, but they’re in position to strike right now. This rookie class has the players to help the team now and in the coming years when the health of the roster and cap situation requires it. If you develop your draft picks as well as the Seahawks do, almost every rookie contract can end up a good and useful one.
