Nottingham City Council said players and club officials will take to the Council House balcony to show off the trophy as part of the celebrations on Tuesday.
It said the event would start at 15:00 BST at Old Market Square, and asked supporters to arrive no earlier than 14:00 to ensure there was time for preparations to be made.
'Wonderful supporters'
The authority said the celebration was designed to be a family event and stated strictly no alcohol, flares, pyrotechnics or smoke bombs would be permitted on the square.
It advised attendees to wear hats and sunscreen and bring water bottles – there will be a free drinking water point at the event.
The council said some road closures and diversions would need to be put in place, with buses and trams set to be disrupted between 14:00 and 16:30.
Neghat Khan, leader of Nottingham City Council, said: "On behalf of the council, I'd like to congratulate Martin Paterson, his players and staff, the club's owners and board, plus the wonderful supporters who represent our proud city.
"I am looking forward to attending Tuesday's event to celebrate with the club, and we hope many Notts County supporters, their families and city residents are able to join too."
