5. Morgan Gibbs-White – Nottingham Forest (15)
Morgan Gibbs-White missed out on a place in the England squad despite a 15-goal campaign for Nottingham Forest. Gibbs-White’s fine run of form across the run-in helped Forest escape from trouble and saw him end the campaign as the top-scoring midfielder in the Premier League. Thomas Tuchel might have got this one wrong.
5. Joao Pedro – Chelsea (15)
One of the few Chelsea signings to have been a success story. Joao Pedro ended the campaign with 23 goals in all competitions, including last summer’s Club World Cup. He scored 15 goals in the Premier League, the best return of his club career to date. However, like Gibbs-White, it wasn’t enough for a World Cup call.
4. Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa (16)
Ollie Watkins recovered from a sluggish start to help inspire Aston Villa to a memorable campaign. Watkins was crucial as Villa secured a top-four finish and won the Europa League under Unai Emery. He scored eight times in his final eight games to match last season’s 16-goal haul. Waktins has now scored 15+ league goals in each of the last four Premier League campaigns.
3. Antoine Semenyo – Manchester City (17)
A standout season for Semenyo, punctuated by a high-profile transfer. Semenyo scored 10 league goals for Bournemouth, before adding seven more in a Manchester City shirt after his £62.5m January transfer. He also scored the decisive goal in the Cityzens’ FA Cup final win over Chelsea.
2. Igor Thiago – Brentford (22)
Igor Thiago bounced back from a first season at Brentford that was ruined by injury to emerge as one of the stars of the campaign. His 22 goals earned Thiago a Brazil debut and a place in this summer’s World Cup squad.
1. Erling Haaland – Manchester City (27)
Who else? A third Premier League Golden Boot for Erling Haaland in just four seasons. Only Thierry Henry and Mohamed Salah have ever won more. The benchmark, yet again.
