Speaking to BBC Sport after Chelsea’s game against Port Vale today, Liam Rosenior said that he was most pleased about the attitude his players had shown against lower league opposition.
“It’s great, it’s why you come to this club, you want to win trophies, you want to be in big games and I was really happy with the players. Their attitude was top.”
“We scored seven goals and that came from an energy and intensity which I enjoyed. \This is a huge club with a lot of scrutiny, a lot of people writing a lot of things. We had a really difficult 10 days but the way we came through is a really good step for the run-in.”
Palmer praised for efforts as captain
He also picked out Cole Palmer specifically for his hard work off the ball in this game. The attacker was made captain for the day and put in a real shift.
After the recent bad results and bad vibes, it certainly was important to see good attitude as well as lots of goals, and we saw both today.
In other news…
Post-game, Rosenior tried to calm things around the trip to Wembley, pointing out that it was just business as usual for Chelsea – or at least should be.
There was some bad news from the game – Jamie Gittens has had yet another hamstring injury.
