The Patriots would love to poach the Eagles’ 28-year-old starting wide receiver this offseason, but a deal has yet to materialize. That could soon change, though, as a recent report indicates the Patriots are expected to complete a blockbuster trade with the Eagles in the summer to help Drake Maye.

“Execs expect the Patriots to acquire receiver A.J. Brown from Philadelphia in June, once the salary-cap implications become more tenable for the Eagles,” The Athletic’s Mike Sando reported Thursday.

Many Patriots fans likely began to panic after The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported in March that Brown would remain with the Eagles for the time being. However, Russini’s report made it clear that a trade isn’t off the table, which should have put New England’s fan base at ease.

Brown’s resume speaks for itself. The Ole Miss product has recorded four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, secured three second-team All-Pro nods, and captured a Super Bowl as the Eagles’ trustworthy No. 1 receiving option.

Although Brown’s diva-like antics may rub some the wrong way, there’s no question that when at his best, Brown is a dynamic wideout who possesses the physical tools and high catch radius necessary to dominate weekly.

If Sando is spot on, the Patriots will have much to look forward to.
