Lifelong Stevens Point fan elected to Packers FAN Hall of Fame

The Green Bay Packers have made Patrick Suplicki of Stevens Point happy for the better part of three decades. They made him very happy when he became the 28th member of the Green Bay Packers FAN Hall of Fame.
It wasn't always so. Packers losses were treated seriously in the Suplicki household. His dad, Elgie, who introduced 64-year-old Patrick to the Packers when he was 3, took losses hard, and there was a lot of losing in the 1970s and '80s.

"If the Packers would lose ... stay out of his way for a while. He wasn't physical or nothing, he was just [ticked] off," Suplicki said on Feb. 19, during the FAN Hall of Fame ceremony at Lambeau Field. He was one of 10 finalists out of more than 100 nominations. Some 56,000 votes were cast by Packers fans.
Patrick said he could be ticked off by Packers losses, too, "and then the '90s came and the rest was history."
His dad taught Patrick a love for the team as well as other skills and life lessons, and never missed a game at Lambeau Field until his death in 2003. And from 1992 on, the Packers won a lot more than they lost, including two Super Bowls, so there was a lot more happiness. But win or lose, it didn't matter in the long run.
"He made it known to me, never stray from this team," Patrick said. "I wish he was here now. I'd tell him, 'Hey, the kid did it.'"
Second time around was a charm for Suplicki, who was a FAN Hall of Fame finalist for 2020. He is one of only a couple of winners to be a finalist in previous years.
"You guys are all Packers fans," Suplicki said looking at the other finalists and announcement attendees. "I wish you all could be in this, because we are unique. That team is unique. The fan base in general with the Packers; we are so damned lucky to have a team like that in the NFL."
Suplicki built a new house in 1996, just in time for Super Bowl XXXI against the New England Patriots, which the Packers won. He subsequently turned his basement into a Packers shrine, but also as a tribute to his dad. It took him five years, and it got bigger than he initially intended, but he got it done. It includes Packers memorabilia, including jerseys signed by Bart Starr, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, photos, trophy cases, a large-screen TV, and a picture of Lambeau Field on the ceiling, and green and gold everywhere.
"When I built that room, I didn't expect it to go that far," he said.
In 2023, he survived mucoepidermoid carcinoma, a rare cancer in his neck, and now is cancer free. His youngest daughter, Patrice, nominated him.
As the newest member of the FAN Hall of Fame, Suplicki's name will be displayed in the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame at Lambeau Field. He'll also get four club seats to a 2026 home game, pre-game sideline passes, four passes to the Hall of Fame, a custom Packers jersey, a $500 Packers Pro Shop gift card and a one-year subscription to PackersNews.com. USA TODAY Network is a FAN Hall of Fame sponsor.
He knows what he's going to do with the gift card: take his grandchildren, Jeter, 8, and Emery, 6, to the Pro Shop to "get them something they can remember this day by."
