The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the market for a quarterback, once again. With the future of Aaron Rodgers uncertain, the only two quarterbacks on Pittsburgh’s roster are Mason Rudolph and Will Howard.

Even if Rodgers decides to return for a 22nd NFL season, the Steelers should bring in a younger name who could potentially be the starter once Rodgers steps away, and a name has emerged as a trade candidate.

Per Stephen Holder, Anthony Richardson is expected to request a trade from the Indianapolis Colts.

Richardson was drafted fourth overall by the Colts in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Florida. He looked like he was poised to have a majestic rookie season, totaling seven touchdowns and just one interception in his first four career games before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. In 2024, he threw eight touchdowns to 12 interceptions and added six touchdowns on the ground. Daniel Jones beat Richardson out for the starting job in 2025, and we didn’t see the 6-foot-4, 245-pound quarterback, save for two pass attempts across two games.

Considering Richardson’s size, athleticism, and top-tier arm strength, he is a name to watch for a potential trade to Pittsburgh.
