SEATTLE − Penn State football legend Jack Ham experienced a medical emergency at Husky Stadium about an hour before the Nittany Lions played their Big Ten game against Washington.

Ham, 77, was in Seattle to help broadcast the game as a longtime radio analyst with the Penn State Sports Network. He and Dave Robinson are the only former Nittany Lions in both the College and Pro football halls of fame.

The Nittany Lions (4-4, 1-4 Big Ten) were seeking their first Big Ten road game victory of the season under new head coach Matt Campbell.

Ham suffered an undisclosed incident after arriving at the stadium and was transported to the University of Washington Medical Center, where he is being treated, according to Penn State officials. They are releasing no further information as of Saturday afternoon.

Ham, a Johnstown, Pa. native, has worked for more than two decades with radio partner Steve Jones, the pair calling their 300th game in 2023.

Ham was a consensus All-American linebacker at Penn State and the 34th player taken in the 1971 NFL Draft. He would go on to win four Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers and would be regarded as one of the best linebackers in NFL history with a particular supremacy as a pass defender.

Ham was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 1975 and made eight straight Pro Bowls.
