Giants game could shape Nick Sirianni’s future with Eagles
· Yahoo Sports
Nick Sirianni has led the Eagles through difficult stretches before, but he has never faced circumstances quite like these.
Philadelphia is 2-6 after six consecutive losses and has been held scoreless after the first quarter in back-to-back games. The Eagles have lost by a combined 34 points to Dallas and Washington while showing little evidence that the offense’s recurring problems are close to being corrected.

That makes Sunday’s matchup with the Giants more than another NFC East game. It is an examination of Sirianni’s ability to stabilize a team before its Week 10 bye. The evaluation should extend beyond the final score. Philadelphia must improve its preparation, protection communication, second-half adjustments, and offensive sequencing. Sean Mannion’s play-calling deserves scrutiny, but Sirianni is ultimately responsible for ensuring the offense has a coherent identity and that the entire team responds to adversity.
The Eagles opened a 10-0 lead against Washington before surrendering 27 unanswered points. They possessed the ball longer, ran more plays, and committed fewer penalties, yet averaged only 3.9 yards per snap. Those numbers suggest a team that can function procedurally without producing meaningful results.
Sirianni doesn't need to announce dramatic changes just to calm outside criticism. He needs the changes he makes to become visible on Sundays.
A victory over the Giants would buy time and create a more productive environment during the bye. A seventh consecutive loss would force Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman to consider whether the current program can lead Philadelphia through the next stage of its roster transition.
