Former Texas A&M standout Cashius Howell placed on injured reserve

Former Texas A&M defensive end Cashius Howell has suffered an early setback in his NFL career after the Cincinnati Bengals placed the rookie on injured reserve Tuesday, as first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Howell sustained a wrist injury during Cincinnati's 43-36 overtime victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. According to Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, Howell underwent surgery following the game, although a specific timetable for his return has not been announced.

The move means Howell will miss at least four games, beginning with Sunday's matchup against the Atlanta Falcons in Madrid, Spain.
A second-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, Howell has appeared in all seven games for Cincinnati this season. The former Aggie has recorded six tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and five quarterback hits while playing approximately 40% of the team's defensive snaps.
Howell joined the Bengals after two seasons at Texas A&M, where he established himself as one of the SEC's top pass rushers. His speed and explosiveness made him an attractive NFL prospect. His absence could create additional opportunities for fellow former Aggie Shemar Stewart, Cincinnati's 2025 first-round selection. Stewart has played a limited role this season but could see increased snaps while Howell recovers.
For now, Howell's focus shifts toward recovery as he works to return to the field later this season.
